Exploring the Use of Micro Providers

A project with Somerset County Council.

Project aims

To explore how a CQC registered domiciliary homecare provider could purchase support from Micro Providers as part of an Individual Service Funds (ISFs) arrangement

Project description and outcomes

Self Directed Futures worked alongside Somerset Council commissioning team and The Carer Network (a CQC registered domiciliary care provider) to trial the use of Individual Service Funds as a vehicle for purchasing a broad range of support options including the use of self-employed sole traders working under the scope of The Carer Networks CQC registration.

The pilot successfully demonstrated that micro providers could work as part of a wider support arrangement and that ISFs could facilitate this.
